Insurance cover for devotees is the new norm for temples
Pune: This Navratri, Chatuhshrungi temple will extend its 2005 initiative of insuring devotees during the nine-day festival to all 365 days of the year.In 2005, the policy that we took was applicable only during the Navratri but now we have extended the insurance period from 10 days to 365 days, with the insurance cover amount of Rs 2 crore,” said Nandkumar Angal, temple trustee. As per the policy, if anything happens to any of the devotee when he is on the temple premises, he will be entitled to claim the amount mentioned in the policy.
During navratri, on an average, Chatuhshrungi Temple receives around 40,000 people per day. “Although till now, nothing untoward has happened at the temple in the last five years, but God forbid in case of any such incident, the affected person will be compensated at least financially,” said Angal.
